Thank you Ben and Bob. You keep me going.
"There will be plenty of time to sleep once you’re dead”.
Whether this quote is actually from Benjamin Franklin or Robert DeNiro, (attributed to both), thank you for these inspiring words.
And for both being awesome role models. Ben, you were still vocal and active until the day you died in your late 80’s.
Bob, you’re still practicing your craft in your late 70’s.
When I retired from my 39-year career in the corporate world, five years ago this week, I never had a blueprint for the future. But some personal characteristics compelled me to stay engaged in the world of business…curiosity- about the world and other cultures, creativity- the fulfillment of creating things from scratch, and compassion- for people, for animals and the environment.
So here I am, celebrating a "matching digit" birthday, also this week, and busy as ever. Doing the things that mean so much to me.
And defying the definition of retirement.
Working closely with a 25 year old founder to start her new business.
Serving on a couple of boards, for profit and not for profit; both that I’m passionate about.
Mentoring two young women to kick start their careers.
Serving on a committee to beautify our apartment building.
And of course, starting and building Everlusting, along with my like-minded biz partner, to hopefully inspire and ignite our peers, to stay engaged, feel fulfilled, to keep going. With the added mission of showing younger generations that getting older can be super interesting and fun.
Sounds tiring? Sometimes it is. But I’ll have plenty of time to sleep… :)
